I’m Texting…Bring On The Zombies

You’ve seen them…those teenagers hunched over their iPhone and Samsung phones vigorously tapping away on the virtual keyboard.  Are they emailing?  Are they writing a paper?  No, they are texting.  Personally I detest texting.  I have a smartphone…if I need to talk to you I will call you.  If I can’t call you, I will email you.  What’s the big deal?

Well, my wife has wanted texting for a while but we have had it blocked on our Verizon plan since we both have smartphones.  I have to mention here that we are still on the old family share plan.  So today, I bit the bullet and signed us up for the new Share Everything plan.  It’s great, we get unlimited talk (which we rarely need) and unlimited text (which my wife loves and I detest) and only 2 GB of shared data (WHAT????)

Yes, I gave up my unlimited data plan (forever) so my wife could have texting.  Needless to say, I love her dearly.  And to be completely honest I kind of wanted texting too.  Not to actually text constantly like a drug addled teenager but so that I could occassinoaly text if needed and of course so I can enter various contests and vote on reality shows (that’s a joke folks).

As I sit here, I have already sent like 10 text messages and I’m sure more will come as those people who always tell me “you need to get texting so I can message you!!” realize I have it and begin flooding my phone with their brilliant messages.

In all seriousness, it was time to make the switch because (sorry had to answer a message) we now have a teenager in the house and of course she and her friends and her friends parents all text.  And from a business standpoint I constantly have to tell clients “I block texts” which makes me sound like a cave man.  I just need to learn all the texting shortcuts like “omg”,”lol”,”lmbo”,”adjfiskejgske” (not sure what this one means or if it’s even real).

So now I have joined the thumb typing multitude.  The zombie apocalypse can’t be far behind.
