4 Tips to Make Moving Home Less Stressful

Posted on January 25, 2021February 4, 2021 by Larry

Moving to a new home should be exciting. You’re upgrading your house and taking a step forward in life. Perhaps you’re moving for a dream job, or maybe you need a bigger property in which to start a family. It could be that you’re fed up with your hometown and want a new adventure in an unfamiliar destination. Whatever your reasons, you are stepping out into the great unknown and beginning a brand new life.

But sometimes the vision doesn’t quite match up to reality. You imagine you and your family happily stepping over the threshold in your new home with beaming smiles on your faces, when in reality you’ll be sweating, miserable, and overwhelmed with anxiety. The moving process can be extremely stressful and put a downer on your big day. You have to deal with packing your entire life up, the risk of things being lost or damaged en route, and all the other issues that inevitably pop up at the worst possible moment.

But if you are smart about the moving process and plan well in advance, you can remove all stress from proceedings and enjoy the move. To help you take your next step in life, here are four tips to make moving home less stressful.

Choose the Right Property

One of the key factors you need to get right when you are looking to make the best changes here is to choose the right property. There are a lot of things that you need to make the most of when it comes to making your move less stressful, and getting the perfect property plays such a massive part in this process. There is a lot you can do to achieve this, and it is important to think about the steps you can take to ensure this. Working closely with the best realtor you can find is the perfect way of being able to achieve this, and you need to work on taking the right steps to help you achieve this moving forward.

Having the right realtor working with you is one of the most important parts of the process, and there are a lot of things that play a role in that right now. You are going to need to work on taking the best steps you can to help you improve the home and make it less stressful moving forward. There are so many ideas that you can use to help with this, and being able to work closely with a great realtor in order to find the best possible property for your move is absolutely essential.

Plan ahead

Leaving everything to the last minute is the worst thing you can do if you want your big day to be free from anxiety. Do yourself a favor by planning everything as early as possible. Create a list of all the tasks that need to be completed before, during, and after the move, and create a timeline for accomplishing them. This way, you will always know whether or not you’re on schedule, and when moving day arrives, you will be confident that you have everything under control.

Be smart with packing

When packing for a house move, people often do it very badly. Don’t just throw everything into unmarked boxes or you’ll spend hours hunting for the things you need when you get to your new home. Make sure everything is clearly labeled and organized into boxes according to the room they belong in. When you come to unpack, you will know where everything is and can start with the essentials.

Hire a moving company

You might be tempted to save a bit of money by moving all your belongings by yourself, but if you want to save a lot of hassle, hiring a professional mover is the way to go. Although they will come at a cost, they will move all your belongings and relocate them into your new home for you. This makes moving large items like sofas, beds, and wardrobes a walk in the park. And if you’d rather not drive your car across the country, you can even use a company like CarsRelo to ship your vehicle for you.

Ask for help

There’s no shame in asking for assistance. If you have friends and family who are willing to do you a favor, ask them to help you move your boxes. It will save you a lot of time and money, and you can always pay them back by inviting them to your new place for a cup of tea and a chat.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
