Unfortunately, the reality of life is that you only have so much time to accomplish what you want done. This means that there are a lot of things that you may be wasting time on in your life that are detracting from making you as productive as you could be. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to help with this problem and increase your .productivity.
1- Have Clear Goals
One of the fastest ways to lose productivity is to get confused as to what you are doing and why. If you don’t write down exactly what you hope to accomplish with whatever tasks you are trying to optimize for productivity, then you will tend to get lost along the way. It’s much easier to procrastinate on what you’re doing if you’re not crystal clear about why you’re doing it. If you find yourself procrastinating on a particular goal a lot, then it may be time to ask yourself why you are procrastinating. It’s entirely possible that the reason why you’re procrastinating has something to do with you drifting fro you goals.
For example, maybe while you were working, your goals changed and you just didn’t
realize it. Motivation can drift to and fro sometimes if you don’t pay attention. As a result, it’s a good idea to both write down your goals and motivations in the beginning before undertaking a task, and also do a reassessment every once in a while to make sure you haven’t lost your way. This can help cut down on procrastination, since this often indicates you are struggling with why you are working on your current project.
2- Use Effective Desktop Software
There are a variety of different programs you can use to help you optimize your day and increase your productivity. Many programs will record your activities during the day so that you can look at them for later analysis. How much time did you spend procrastinating? When did you do it? If you can use programs to help you analyze this you may be able to find ways to increase your productivity.
3- Use Helpful Mobile Apps
There are many different apps that can help you be more productive. Two examples that jump out are Domo and Any.do. The Domo app is for iPhone and it helps you sync with your Google Calendar. This means that all of the activities that you need to accomplish during the week will be readily available on your mobile device. The app makes it easier to do search, planning, get alarms, and so on.
4- Budget Your Time
Apps like Any.do will also help you budget your time more effectively, though you can do this on your own as well. It’s important to ask yourself how much time you’ll need to perform any particular action, so that you make sure you get it done on time, and so if you go over you’ll know and you won’t miss doing other tasks.
5-Plan to Relax
One of the biggest dangers with working hard is overdoing it. Make sure you give yourself time to relax in between huge work assignments, or you will overload your brain and it will be a net loss to your productivity in the long run.
Overall, a little planning on judicious use of apps and programs can go a long way to maximizing your productivity.
