We’ve all been there…sitting in the meeting that JUST WON’T END. It’s excruciating and you feel like each minute is an hour. Usually there is a speaker who has a very monotone voice and he or she loves to talk very slowly. I’ve been in meetings that honestly made me question whether I really existed or was just a figment of someone else’s imagination. That’s a bad meeting.
So I decided to help you out by giving you some ideas on how to survive a boring meeting. I’m going to give you a few things to do including playing games. Now, we can argue all day about the ethics of playing games on work time…but when you’re in that meeting you don’t really care about ethics…you just want to survive.
Balance Your Checkbook
I hate balancing my checkbook. But it’s something that must be done in order to stay financially stable. Unless you have tons of money you have to know where your money is going and how much of it you have. These days you can do your checkbook online and on your mobile device. An example of an online checkbook you can look at ClearCheckbook. ClearCheckbook isn’t connected to your bank account so you don’t have to worry about compromising your accounts. There is also the Quicken mobile app which is very useful if you use Quicken to manage your money.
Play Games
I don’t cover a lot of games on this site but we all play them. There are many places online to play games as well on our mobile devices. Facebook games are huge right now and there are a myriad of games to choose from on Facebook. I like playing puzzle and casino games on Facebook and online. One of the most popular games on Facebook right now is Candy Crush Saga. I have to admit that I love playing it…it is addictive. An example of free casino games online is Stardust Casino. You can play it on Facebook or mobile and it has a great social aspect which lets you play with your friends.
Manage Your Social Media Accounts
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and much much more. We have so many social media accounts these days that it can be a full time job managing them. What better way to survive a boring meeting than to manage your accounts. The good thing about that is you can do it on your laptop or your mobile device. In fact, Facebook even has an app to manage your Facebook Pages. I use the app to manage several of my pages. Hootsuite is another popular app for managing multiple social media accounts. I use it to manage my twitter accounts. It’s great for scheduling tweets.
So there you have it, three ways to survive a boring meeting and be productive at the same time. Well, unless you choose the game route…then at least you had fun and didn’t fall asleep in the meeting.
Any other ideas for surviving a boring meeting?

This made me laugh. I’ve been stuck in so many meetings that bore me to tears but I try to pretend I’m paying attention. Not just to keep people from looking at my screen during the meeting.
