3 Additional Training Courses You Should Consider If You Want To Advance Your Career

Posted on February 2, 2021February 2, 2021 by Larry

Whether you are looking to move up in your current company, or take on a new position in a different industry, you may have already begun thinking about the steps you need to take in order to advance in your career. For example, you may have spent a lot of time studying and need to gain more practical industry experience to add to your resume. Alternatively, you may feel as though you have a lot more to learn.

However, it is important to remember that you do not necessarily have to retrain entirely or study towards a degree to develop specific skills. You can take part in numerous, short-term courses that allow you to develop a host of personal and professional skills – many of which are transferable.

With that in mind, here are three kinds of training courses you should consider if you want to advance your career quickly!

1) Management Courses.

There are many skills that a manager must possess that may come quite naturally to you. For example, you may already be confident and determined and able to instruct others. However, being a good manager requires far more than the ability to tell others what to do – and you can learn more about it by taking part in managerial courses. They will allow you to develop critical skills and attributes, such as:

  • Decision-making skills
  • Delegation skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Time management skills

Once you have completed a managerial course, you will soon notice that you can take control of any situation with confidence and ease, putting you in good stead for a career as a manager.

2) Industry-specific courses.

Many people feel unsure about their ultimate career goals. However, if you have an exact position in mind, that ties directly to a specific industry, you should ensure any further training relates directly to that. For example, suppose you are an accountant who wants to work within the oil and gas industry. In that case, you may wish to gain an APA (Accredited Petroleum Accountant) qualification, that provides you with specific scientific knowledge to back up your current expertise. This will make you a much more attractive candidate to employers and can provide you with a unique insight into your industry that you can use to advance your career. You can find more about this accreditation here: https://www.copas.org/apa-program/.

If you are unsure as to what course you need to take, ask your employers for advice and guidance – as they will be able to point you in the right direction.

3) Marketing Courses.

If one day you wish to start your own company or work within sales, you should ensure that you keep up to date with marketing trends and can work across numerous different softwares. However, the easiest way to obtain this knowledge is by taking part in marketing courses. They will allow you to develop a range of skills, including :

  • Organizational skills
  • Management skills
  • Brand awareness
  • Industry insight
  • Computer literacy
  • An eye for creativity
  • Design skills
  • Customer awareness

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
