Florida is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the USA, and it’s easy to see why. It’s the home of Miami beach, Disneyland, and has a beautiful climate in the summer months. However, now that winter is upon us, where are the best places to go to experience the colder season?
Key West
Key west is known for its key lime pie, water activities, and generally laid-back attitude towards life. Winter is a perfect time to visit this place as the temperature is still high and will make you feel comfortable and cozy in the chilly season. If you are a water baby, you’ll find a whole range of fun activities to do in the winter time. You can go snorkeling, swimming, sailing and even charter a boat for the day. Go on a deep-sea dive, fishing in the ocean or simply spend time by the waterside.
Orlando
Orlando is most famous for its theme parks, and is the perfect location for adrenaline junkies to visit during the colder months. Due to it being winter, the lines will be shorter than normal and you will be able to fully enjoy your experiences at Islands Of Adventure, Seaworld and Universal Studios. If theme parks aren’t really your thing, you can visit the Kennedy Space Center and learn about the work NASA does. In the winter, LEGOLAND puts on a show called Christmas Bricktacular, perfect for the kids.
Miami
One of the places most associated with this sunny state, Miami can offer a way out of the winter blues with the help of high temperatures and sunny days by the beach. You’ll be able to do some retail therapy at Coral Gables Miracle Mile, and visit some wild animals at Zoo Miami. This city isn’t short on things to occupy your time, and to get that festive spirit started, you can visit Santa’s Enchanted Forest and have the chance to see reindeer, meet the elves, and Santa himself.
Disney World
If you really want to get yourself and the kids in the Christmas spirit, a trip to Disney World is exactly what you need. You can stay in their hotels or stay somewhere close-by, and enjoy everything Disney has to offer in the colder season. The park is decorated for Christmas and you will be able to watch a full nativity production, ride on miniature trains and see life-size gingerbread houses. Finish that all off by visiting Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and you’ll be racing to get the tree up when you get home.
St. Augustine
If it’s winter charm you want, then St Augustine is the perfect place to stay this winter. Book yourself a stay at TRYP By Wyndham Sebastian St. Augustine, and enjoy the days walking through cobbled streets, watching historical re-enactments, and taking a drink from the Fountain Of Youth which was built in 1565. In Christmas this place lights up with 2 million lights, all leading up to a huge tree in the center of the city.
