Business Backups

Posted on November 29, 2017 by ben

No matter what business you’re in, backup plans are essential. If you’ve been in the working world for a while, you should already know that things rarely go how they should. Usually, on the day of a big meeting, something goes wrong which stands to jeopardize all your hard work. That is, as they say, how the cookie crumbles. Many a big deal has been scuppered for that exact reason.

The good news is, you can put that experience to practical use in your business pursuit. There’s no need to let mishaps ruin your chances when you know to expect them. Instead, it’s down to you to turn to backup plans which can stand up to any disaster. Lucky for you, there are a few such plans which are relevant to near enough any business. And, we’re going to look at them here.

Generators

You would think, in 2017, that power cuts were no longer an issue for businesses. But, you’d be wrong. Admittedly, things are much better now. But that doesn’t mean that power cuts aren’t still a possibility. And, when the power does suddenly drop, everything your staff were working on will be lost. That is, of course, unless you turn to something like TESS marina electrical services.

Such companies install backup generators for a variety of businesses. This way, even if a power cut does hit, your staff can carry on working without distraction. While generators usually have a limit, that does at least give staff an opportunity to save work. Not to mention that modern power cuts rarely last long. You’re sure to be back up and running well before your generator’s limit.

Emergency Procedures

Every business owner is aware of their need for various alarms. As well as ensuring safety, installation of fire alarms and security cameras keeps you on the right side of the law. But, that isn’t the only step business owners need to take. It’s also essential that you have an emergency procedure backup behind you. You should have a fire procedure and meeting place outside of the building. You should also prep staff what to do in the event of a break in. And, you should drill your workforce on these at least every six months.

Cloud Computing

A list of essential backups wouldn’t be complete without mention of cloud computing. Many businesses face crashed computers on presentation day. And, of course, the crashed computer in question is inevitably the one containing your presentation. Well, in modern business, there’s no need for issues likes these. Now, you can make tech work for you with the help of cloud computing.

This internet-based storage solution ensures that all files are backed immediately. Plus, you’ll be able to access them from anywhere. So, if you can’t start that all important computer on the day, you can just access your presentation from another. No big deal. There are many cloud solutions on the market. Do your research to decide which would best suit your needs.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
