These Top Things are Really Reducing the Value of Your Property

Posted on October 8, 2018October 8, 2018 by ben

Your property is your investment, and for this reason, it is so important that you are able to maintain its value as much as possible. If you don’t then you could end up reducing its worth and this can put you into debt. This is the last thing that you need, so if you want to make the most out of your property or if you want to try and stop the value from going down over time then here are some top tips that will help you to get started.

Bad Flooring

Buyers hate bad carpeting. If you have a bright red or even a bright blue carpet then this can really make a buyer feel as though your property is not worth the money. This is even the case if your property is in an ideal location as well. If you want to avoid all of this then you need to do everything you can to try and install nice wooden floors or even plain carpets. Carpets can easily be replaced and it is very cheap to do this as well, but from a buyer’s point of view, it is an additional expense that could have been avoided all along.

Bold Paint Choices

You may love being known as the family who has the purple house but there is no guarantee that the next homeowner is going to enjoy it. Most people prefer neutral tones when it comes to a property and this is especially the case when you look at the outside of the property. If you have a bold paint choice on the exterior of the property then this can really be off-putting and it may even stop people from looking around your property as well. This is the last thing that you need, so try and make sure that you paint over any bright colours and you also need to try and make sure that you are as neutral as possible when it comes to your home’s colour scheme.

Repairs

If you have a leak or if you know that your home is in desperate need of some repairs then you need to do everything you can to make sure that you get these done to the best of your ability. If you have a buyer come round and they see everything that needs to be done then this will put them off as well and this is the last thing that you need when you already have so much to think about. If you want to avoid this then consider hiring some Ottawa plumbers to have a look around and fix any issues before they go on to cause even more water damage.

Floor Plan

Buyers like to see that a space has been used well. Living spaces should have a good flow between the rooms and if your rooms feel chopped up or separated then this can really make the rooms feel restricted. It also stops you from utilising the space to the maximum efficiency as well and this is something that you will want to avoid.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
