Your Employees’ Safety & How To Ensure It

Posted on January 7, 2020January 7, 2020 by Larry

As a business owner, one of the most important things that you are going to have to worry about at all times is trying to ensure the ongoing safety of all of the employees in your care. No matter the nature of the work or workplace, this is something that will always be important, and it is going to be necessary to make sure that you can look after your people in the best way possible. That is often going to be easier said than done, and you might find that you need to work on it a little in order to be really sure you get it right. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the ways to really ensure that you are properly looking after your employees as well as possible.

Training

One of the most valuable things you can do to help your employees remain safe at work is to train them up well. With the proper training, you can be sure that they are going to have much more of a chance of remaining safe, and this really is an important part of the process that you can’t overlook. That training might be specific to the kind of role they have. For instance, anyone working with screens could need to take DSE compliance training by EssentialSkillz to ensure that their screen use is safe. Or it might be the general health and safety training that you have to give to all of your employees. In any case, it’s something that you will need to think about if you are to keep them truly safe.

Rules

It is necessary that you lay down some rules if you want your employees to absolutely be safe. Without the proper rules in place, you are going to find that you struggle to keep everyone as safe as they should be, as that is something that is going to be less easier to do. The rules will need to be developed in good time and with reference to the most likely problems that your employees will probably face, so make sure that you are going to consider that as best as you can. You should then ensure that you express those rules to your employees fully and clearly, so that they can be certain of what they are and what they need to follow. This will help hugely.

Personal Responsibility

Every person has the ultimate responsibility for their own safety, and that is something that should be impressed upon your staff from day one. That is not to say that you don’t also have a responsibility to make sure that your employees are being looked after – you do, that is an essential part of your job too. But ultimately, your employees each need to take care of themselves in whatever way they can. Make sure everyone knows this, and you will have a much safer environment for all to work in.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
