A Door To Door Process…

Posted on October 16, 2017 by ben

For any entrepreneur or budding business owner, the natural first step is to set up a business from your own home. This is, to put it bluntly, a very difficult thing. You require resilience, and you require the necessary finances to keep it ticking over, and if you are running a business which specializes in delivering products, it can be quite a trial, regardless of the product because of the fact you are running it from your own home. So, if you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you need to consider.

Make Sure The Product Stands Out

The product, as well as the marketing, need to present a great image, this cannot be underestimated. You need to think about the design of the product, the labeling, as well as every aspect of how you promote yourself. And when it comes to manufacturing a product for mass consumption, you need to make sure the appropriate equipment is in place, such as labeling systems, so that you are getting ahead of the crowd in this respect.

Your image is always vital, and especially as everybody is trying to get a small business up and running, an image isn’t something you should underestimate because this will be something that will put you head and shoulders above your peers.

Outsourcing

Ultimately, outsourcing key functions of your business can make processes a lot easier. This is something that has to be thought about if you are operating from your home because you can only do so much in a confined space. So, you need to think about freelancers, temporary workers, and people of that ilk that will help you complete these key functions. And it’s something you need to think about as your business expands because you don’t want to find yourself buckling under the pressure, or not being able to meet the demand.

Your Delivery Boundaries

The thing about keeping a business personal, when you are delivering products to people’s front doors, can be a big challenge to travel far and wide, so you may want to start thinking about imposing specific limits, especially if you want to keep this personal image. You may also want to think about specific payment processes, like mobile credit card payments, or even think about posting items. Of course, this depends on the product itself.

Keeping That Personal Image

The thing about a delivery company is that you need to spend a lot of time building that relationship with the customer, and now with internet orders and deliveries, the aspect of face-to-face is somewhat imposing in the modern world. So you may want to think about how you can maintain that personal image, but keep the advantage of the way businesses run now when it comes to delivering items, for example, a click and collect option.

We rely on deliveries, and so it makes business sense to set up a service like this, but it’s important to think of your demographics in addition to these key points. You can corner a section of the market that don’t have the internet, for example. The common delivery business is not going to go away anytime soon, but it’s definitely worth thinking about keeping ahead of the crowd in how you operate.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
