If you’re planning to renovate your home or change the decor a little, then you’ve probably taken a good look at things like magazines or online websites for inspiration. However, there are a couple of renovation trends that aren’t commonly thought about. Perhaps they’re underrated, maybe they’re overlooked for things that are going viral now, or maybe they just take a bit too much work to look good. Either way, here are a couple of unique home design elements that you should consider for your next project.
Curved Windows
Windows are an essential part of any home, but something that few people think about is curved windows. After all, glass can be shaped however you want it, so why not curved windows? You can click here to take a look at a couple of examples of how a curved window can actually enhance your home.
Of course, you’re going to need the right frame to support it and the structure of your home will also need to fit the curved window. If you plan to install a new room or add a loft conversion, then it might be worth considering the unique look of a curved window in your next project.
The “Dumb” Home
Everyone’s talking about smart homes but there are two major flaws that you should consider. First, the cost. Renovations are expensive already, so is there really a need to boost the cost even more by adding computer-controlled devices? Whether it’s a smart light, smart fridge or smart television, it’s going to cost a lot of money that will eat into your renovation budget. The other flaw is that it’s incredibly finicky. You’re going to need a decent wireless router that can cover the entire house.
This isn’t likely unless you have an incredibly expensive one, so you’ll need to use devices that extend the wireless connection in your home. You’re also going to need compatible devices or smartphones to control them, and there’s a good chance they can fail or be unresponsive at times unless all the conditions are perfect. In short, don’t think of smart homes as the “must-have” design for your renovation, “dumb” homes are absolutely fine and will allow you to spend more money on decor instead of devices.
House-Wide Vacuum System
If you’re going to be remodeling your entire home, why not add some useful additions that you probably haven’t thought about before? For instance, a house-wide vacuum cleaning system can be incredibly useful for cleaning and it’s both practical and affordable. These are often referred to as central vacuum systems and they offer power, efficiency and convenience.
There will be no need to carry around a heavy vacuum cleaner, you don’t need to worry about cleaning out the vacuum cleaner too often and you can get the same power and efficiency of an expensive top-of-the-line model. It’s definitely one of those utilities that everyone wants but simply don’t have the time to install, and it’s the perfect way to add value to your home if you plan to sell in the future.
I really liked the idea of curved windows. it makes us to stand out in the entire area which is definitely a cool thing. We are planning to construct a house soon. will include the idea of curved windows in it. thanks for the idea ben. but regarding central vacuuming system I don’t think that’s an affordable option to look for. rather I would go with the cordless one.
