Balancing Your Priorities In Life

Posted on October 15, 2020October 15, 2020 by Larry

Let’s be honest, owning a small business can be a lot of work. It’s also incredibly rewarding, of course, and it can add value to your life that can’t be found anywhere else – but this comes at the cost of time, energy, and a serious mental investment. When you’re also raising a family, whilst trying to keep your social life alive and your finances stable, this can become an unbelievable juggling act. It’s no wonder that many people end up compromising on at least one of the above. However, this is not something that you should have to do at all. By prioritizing and organizing efficiently, you can balance your priorities and have the best of both worlds.

Family

When it comes to all these priorities, family is always number one. After all, what is the point of a thriving business if you can’t celebrate that success with those you love? Yet all too often, it is your family who may suffer as you throw yourself into your work. Combating this is a key part of balancing your energies for a healthy life. If you find it difficult to spend time with your family, consider scheduling family-time into your calendar just as you would a conference meeting or a work away-day. It might seem oddly official, but it’s a brilliant way to trick your brain into switching off about work for a bit, allowing you to spend the quality time with your family that you deserve.

Finances

Personal finances can be hard to talk about, but they should always be a priority to ensure they are balanced and stable. They affect many other areas of your life, from your ability to focus on work, your home stability, and the fun activities you can do with your family, so it’s worth dedicating some time to make sure everything is in order. If you’re struggling with debt, this is a problem to face head-on by finding the best repayment plans, or looking at DTSS review, rather than letting it slip away from you. Often dealing with your finances is less stressful than the anticipation of having to deal with them, so get started and get on top of them as soon as possible.

Social life

When you have your own business and your family to think about, the social life you have with friends can easily fall by the wayside – and you might not even notice. However, it’s vital that you keep putting time aside for your friends. They are a support network outside your family that will help balance your mental health, take the pressure off your home and work environments, and give another dimension to your rich, exciting life. Once again, try to schedule in time to see friends, and every now and then have a little think if there’s someone you haven’t heard from in a while. It’s always worth checking in – after all, you never know when someone might be struggling and need a friend to talk to – and one day, this could be you.

About Us

My good friend Ben started this site many years ago.  Ben said this about himself, “am a follower of Christ, a rabid computer geek, small business owner, and breaker of things. He is married way above his station in life and has three wonderful children who have made driving him insane their mission in life.”

Well back in 2019, Ben suddenly passed away from cancer and he asked me to continue the site. I like Ben, am a follower, a computer geek, a small business owner, and the father of 5 great children.

I miss Ben everyday but run this site in his honor. Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
