Every business is unique; some more than others. It’s so important to market your business to ensure it gets the recognition and attention it deserves. However, if your business is truly unique, then you’re going to need to make sure you market it as such.

Hone And Define Your Unique Selling Proposition

If you’re a unique business, you need to make sure people know what makes you unique. You may think that it’s glaringly obvious, but some people need things explained to them. It doesn’t always show through automatically. Start putting together your USP by reviewing the basics you wrote down in your business plan and mission statement at the start. If you don’t have these things, create them!

Figure out who you’re selling to, and why you’re selling it. What services are you selling? Who is your target audience? Why is your business a good choice?

Next, you need to make sure you identify the problem that many members of your target audience have, and talk about your service/product can solve that problem. Make sure you pinpoint the problem and how you can solve it in as much detail as possible. Don’t BS either – people will see right through that. You need to tell people why they should choose you over a competitor on the market right now. You need to remember that your USP is essentially a promise to your customers. Make sure you are able to keep this promise.

Think about the things that have made you choose certain companies over others in the past and use that knowledge to guide you.

Now, if you have a truly unique business, you’d be mistaken in thinking that your marketing plan should be the same as other businesses. Unique business = unique marketing plan. While some principles will certainly remain the same, you need to make sure you’re doing things that help to emphasize just how unique your business is. Produce Great Content Consistently

All businesses need to ensure they are producing great content. However, for a unique business, yours will be even more important. You’ll need to produce content that talks to people about what your business does, why it will help them, how, etc. However, not all of your content should be promotional. It’s no longer about promotional content. Content needs to be useful. Write with your audience in mind and you’ll do so much better. How can you help them? How can you share your unique knowledge of the industry? Think about these things carefully and you’ll do great!
